EuroBal Wessex is a club that runs balfolk events in Hampshire and Dorset. These happen once a month, except during the summer festival season.
New to balfolk? It is a type of social folk dance originating in France and Belgium, but now danced all around Europe. Dances are guided by the music rather than a caller, and are in different formations: some in pairs, some in circles, some in long snaky lines. Steps are simple but there's opportunity to interpret it your own way!
Our events include the chance to learn basic steps at the start of the event, and rest of the event will be filled with dancing either to a guest band for the whole event, or a led session where visiting musicians can join in. You don't need to bring a dance partner, and new dancers and beginners are always welcome. Have a look at the contact page if you have more questions.
