Jane Griffiths (fiddle) and Jim Penny (Anglo concertina) have spent the last decade exploring their shared passion for the beautiful music of Brittany. The result is Wod, a duo dedicated to playing Breton music for dance. Captivated by the subtle complexity of traditional Breton melodies, Jane and Jim seek to bring out the joyful connection between musicians and dancers that leads to what flute player Jean-Michel Veillon calls ‘the common trance’.
February 14, 2027: Bal with Wod in Ibsley
A special bal with Breton dance specialists Wod, from near Oxford.
Novice and experienced dancers welcome, and you don’t need to bring a partner. There will be a beginner-friendly workshop to start the afternoon, and then we’ll be dancing to music from the band.
